In process improvement, what should you measure first?

A process that isn't measured can't be managed. Improvement starts by making visible the one bottleneck with the highest impact.

Trying to fix everything at once often ends in fixing nothing. First, measure the step that most affects the outcome.

A simple start: record how long a job takes end to end and where that time is spent waiting. Waits are often where the fastest gains are.
